The Parade of Bands

For about the last month the Holland Christian marching band marched past daycare every morning.  Elsa has been so excited to get to daycare everyday lately to see the band.  Her teachers take the kids out to stand by the fence and watch the band go by.  Elsa loves it!  Chad and I were a bit shocked by this because she is still scared of loud noises, but because the band wasn't too close we figured it was okay.  Well the last couple of days the band didn't march past daycare and Elsa was so sad.  Chad tried explaining to her that they had their instruments all packed up and ready for the parades this week.  We contemplated taking her to the Parade of Bands today because we knew it would be loud and because it was cold and rainy outside.  We decided to brave it and we're so glad we did.  The kids did wonderful and Elsa absolutely loved it.  Right when we sat down in our chairs it started to rain and it got really windy and it was already cold, but we were all bundled up tight in warm clothes, hats, mittens, blankets, and our big umbrella.  We didn't take many pictures because we were bundled up so tight.  Thankfully about mid-way through the parade the rain stopped, but the cold and wind continued.  As soon as the parade started Elsa clapped her hands and didn't stop until we left.  She kept saying, "the band is coming, the band is coming!".  She'd point out different colors on the floats and tell us which ones she'd liked.  She also started pointing out instruments as the bands walked by.  My favorite phrase of the day:  "I so happy Mommy, I so happy!"  She'd say it over and over again with a giant smile on her face as more bands marched past.  Gavin was a trooper in this cold, yucky weather too.  He just sat on my lap, wide eyed as he tried to figure out what was happening.  It was such a fun way to spend our afternoon together as a family!

All bundled up and ready for the parade.  This was before it started raining!
Neither one of them look very happy here, but they really were both happy!

This was mid-way through the parade when the rain stopped.  You can see the big smile on Elsa's face and her clapping her hands.  She was so excited!

This is the most precious thing ever. Yes, we I talked to Elsa today, the first thing she talked about was seeing the bands at the parade. What good parents you are to take her in the cold and rain. You guys rock : )
