The Polar Express

We surprised the kids again this year with another trip on The Polar Express.  They were so excited to be able to ride the train again, go to Santa's Village, and stay in a hotel (since we get back later at night, we decided to try staying over this year).  Elsa was a little hesitant and worried the train would be fast like the airplane (on our way to CA) or fast like Big Thunder Mountain Railroad at Disney.

We went early and had lunch all together and then went to our hotel, checked in, and then went to the Steam Railroading Institute to pick up our tickets and get ready to board.  We were the first ones to board our car, so Makiya and Elsa got chosen to be helpers and got to help pass out napkins when it was time to have our cocoa.  The kids were super excited to ride (Elsa got over her fear quite quickly once we were on board), but definitely more comfortable this year, which is both good and bad.  :)

Our ride to Santa's Village is an hour, but filled with visits to the gift car, food car, and enjoying our hot cocoa.  Once at Santa's Village, we have 2 hours, which goes so quickly!  The kids got to see Santa, make crafts, decorate and eat cookies, ride a couple of small rides, go on a horse drawn wagon ride, see the reindeer, visit a couple of shops.

We loaded back up for our hour ride back to Owosso with some tired kiddos!  The train ride back is full of lots of singing Christmas carols.  My two magically got more energy once we were back and on our way to the hotel...thankfully they crashed pretty good.
