The Polar Express

Growing up, my Mom would read The Polar Express to my sisters and me each Christmas season.  We loved snuggling up and reading this book together.  The Christmas after she went to live with Jesus, my Dad bought each of us a copy of the book.  I pulled it out every Christmas and read it, even before Elsa and Gavin.  This year was no different, Christmas season arrived and The Polar Express came out and the kids have loved hearing the story!  Little did they know, we had a surprise in store for them today!

Yep - we went to ride on The Polar Express!  We left Owosso and made the hour long train ride (going 35 mph) to the "North Pole" (AKA - the Village of Ashley).  We had two hours to spend at the North Pole and then rode the train back to Owosso.  The train ride was so much fun!  The kids have been asking and asking to go on a train ride and since it looked just like The Polar Express they thought it was great.  They even got to see the "Hobo" on top of another train car.  Gavin was very interested in going on top of the train like they do in the movie.  :)  We got to have hot cocoa on the way there and spend some fun time exploring the North Pole.  The ride home consisted of snacks and singing Christmas carols.  Arriving back in Owosso at 9:45 and having a 2+ hour drive home was not the most fun part of the night, but we had such a great time.  It was special for my Dad, sisters, and me to be able to enjoy it together and start a new tradition with our families!

So excited!  Getting ready to start our train ride!

 Yummy!  Hot cocoa!!
