Relay for Life

Relay for Life was this past Friday and Saturday.  Since having kids we haven't been able to go on Friday night, but this year we took our camper and camped out!  The kids were so excited for Relay and there were a ton of kid friendly activities going on.  In fact, both kids cried when it was time to leave on Saturday because they love Relay so much.  Relay is one of those bittersweet times for me.  It's nice to be there, raising money and awareness, but it's also hard to be there.  It's amazing to think that Relay has been a part of my life for 12 years.  It's amazing to me that some people don't even know what Relay for Life is and my 2 year old and 4 year old think it's something that everyone does because we do it every year.  It's a great time to honor Mom and share stories about her, but it's also difficult to be there since she's not here with us anymore.  Out of 12 Relays, she was able to be at four of them and we are honored to continue Relaying in her memory.

This year there was a "Kid Zone" with all kinds of fun carnival games and prizes.  Elsa and Gavin loved playing in here!

Whenever we couldn't find the kids, we knew they were out dancing.  The live bands and DJ were a blast!

It's so fun to have a Schwan's man for an uncle!

Messages to Heaven is one of the most emotional activities for me.  Elsa and Gavin got to draw pictures on their balloons and then released them for Grandma.  They were both really excited to send a message to Grandma.
